Watch the Water is an ambient audio work contemplating the gothic soul of Edinburgh in response to the city, its spaces, stories and art. It was commissioned by the Edinburgh Art Festival and uses GPS to locate sounds in the streets.
Centuries ago Edinburgh was built on a rock surrounded by marshes, and rain has never been far away. Water drains through the steep streets and finds its own level in the accumulated layers of the city. The stories lingering just below the surface of the Edinburgh streets will be accessible for a few days only. So if youre going to be in Edinburgh during the festival, download the app and take a journey through the unexpected spaces in the heart of the city.
